to present the
Citizens’ Memorandum
FOR A GLOBAL PUBLIC HEALTH POLICY
On the occasion of the G20 Global Health Summit in Rome (21 May 2021), a group of Italian, European and international organisations, has taken the initiative to draft and disseminate a Citizens’ Memorandum on a global public health in the face of the failure, and its devastating consequences on the lives of billions of people, of the ‘national’ policies to combat Covid-19, which have been applied since 2020 in subservience/collaboration with the world’s private pharmaceutical companies.
The conference is structured in two parts. From 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. the emphasis will be on Italian and European issues. Speakers include Vittorio Agnoletto, Paolo Cacciari, Nicoletta Pirotta, Loredana Martino, Paolo Ferrero, Domenico Rizzuti). From 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. the focus will be on international aspects. Hence the presence of Manon Aubry-F, Left-wing group leader in the European Parliament, Marc Botenga- B, MPE, the President of the Party of the European Left Heinz Bierbaum -D and personalities from Poland (Nina Sankari, feminist), Brazil (Armando De Negri, physician, and Moema Viezzer, writer), Chile (Luis Infanti de la Mora, Bishop of the diocese of Aysen, northern Patagonia), Argentina (Anibal Faccendini, Catedra del Agua), France (Alassane Ba, pharmacy professions and Jean-Pierre Wauquier, physician),Belgium (Catherine Schlitz, activist, Pierre Galand, former senator), Lebanon (Lilia Ghanem, jurnaliste), Senegal (Awa Marie Col-Seck, Minister of State), Rwanda (Diane Gashumba, former Minister of Health), India (Vijay Prashad, historian and writer), Italy (Riccardo Petrella).
The conference will be chaired by Roberto Morea and Roberto Musacchio.
Two street demonstrations will simultaneously be held in Belgium on the initiative of the Agora of the Earth’s Inhabitants, in cooperation with other organisations (including trade unions). These are two ‘ropes’: in Liège, from the City Hall to a small hill where a hospital is located; in Brussels, from the working-class district of Marolles to the Palace of Justice. In Italy, there will be demonstrations in Rome and Matera on the 21st and a national demonstration Saturday 22 in Rome.
The Citizens’ Memorandum, the results of the international conference and the resolutions adopted at the end of the demonstrations will be sent for information to the Italian Prime Italian Prime Minister and the President of the European Commission (co-sponsors of the G20 Global Health Summit) and to the corresponding local, national and European parliamentary and governmental institutions.
A global public health policy must:

  • to reaffirm the primacy of the universal rights to life of all the inhabitants of the Earth and the rights of nature;
  • to recognise the Humanity as a political and institutional subject, a key player in world regulation;
  • to abolish private, profit-making patents on living beings and artificial intelligence;
  • to put finance at the service of the life of all inhabitants of the Earth by declaring speculative and predatory finance illegal.
