The Polish presidential elections were due to be held on 10 May 2020 but were postponed due to the pandemic. The first round was finally held on 28 June 2020 and the second round will be held on 12 July 2020. There are mainly two important candidates that will meet again in the second round of the elections: The current president of Poland, Andrzej Duda, the representative of the Law and Justice Party ruled by  Jarosław Kaczyński, and the current Mayor of Warsaw Rafał Trzaskowski,the representative of the Civic Platform, the party of Donald Tusk. After the first round of elections Andrzej Duda received 43.5% of the vote and Trzaskowski 30.5%. 
Maria Cernat discussed with Polish journalist Boyan Stanislavski about the electoral campaign and lack of political alternatives to right-wing politicians. While claiming to compete against each other, the two political forces are not offering a true alternative. As you will be able to see in the following interview, the lack of an economic alternative is masked by what Boyan Stanislavski calls ˮpolitical tribalismˮ:
