Real summit of fake democracies or a stocktake by US imperialism

We talk with Pat Byrne, a long-time socialist activist, political analyst, and historian of the European left, a week before the President of the United States convenes the Summit for Democracy.
Boyan Stanislavski discusses the significance of this event as well as the nature of the current understanding of the concept of democracy with him. Is this summit a sign of the desperation of American imperialism? Is this a genuine mobilization of “democratic forces” or merely intimidation? How will this be perceived by the world’s public opinion? Is everyone aware of the obvious hypocrisy in this? What exactly is Washington banking on? That everyone attending the summit will join the US in a war against Russia and China? That appears to be an absurd assumption.
